Community Picnic - Saturday June 9th 2018:
The Friends of Eastcote House Gardens celebrated their 10th Anniversary at the annual Community Summer Picnic. The sun shone and the community attendance was high.
Old favourites returned, the Dog Show being well supported, as was the Tug of War. New to the EHG Picnic were Ferret racing, Ken Carter’s group ‘Jazzology’ and Harefield Dog trust with their ‘Doggy Dash’
St. Lawrence Players returned with another short play written especially for the occasion.
The many stalls included Harrow Bee Keepers, Eastcote Horticultural Society, Spicy Delights and Lifeboats.
Our young friends were kept busy trying to put the Tail on the Donkey as well as Bashing the Rat! Or trying the Scouts climbing wall.
Young or old, two feet or four, everyone was catered for including the space for families to picnic on the grass.
FEHG would like to thank Hillingdon Council for their support organizing this event. Also, the many local businesses who donated prizes for the raffle and tombola.

London Open House
It rained and rained and rained!
This did not stop the Classic Car Rally going ahead; more than 35 cars and their owners braved the weather to give a good display. Keith Barnard, organizer of the rally, wishes to thank the Watford Car Club for their help stewarding the event.
Many outside stalls had to be cancelled but the plant and second hand book sales went ahead. Those visiting the Gardeners yard were able to admire the FEHG alpine beds.
The Dovecote was open with talks given by Dr. David Payne, President FEHG.

Tree Dressing
Although there had been rain all morning, by the time the children and families arrived for our annual tree-dressing it had at last stopped! Three schools – Warrender Primary, Coteford Infants and Field End Infants – all brought choirs and entertained us with festive songs. We also had representatives from 6th Eastcote Cubs. The Mayor and Mayoress of Hillingdon led the dressing of the tree and presented each community group with a shrub from Friends of Eastcote House Gardens as a thank you.
The Stables looked beautiful and was full of lovely crafts and tea and cakes for sale. A raffle and Teddy Bear Hunt made sure there was plenty to do. A very big thank you to everyone who helped before and during the event to make it so special: our tea stall helpers, our very talented craft team, raffle sellers, Teddy Hunt organisers, outdoor stewards and Audrey on the baubles!
Not only was it a lovely community event, but we also raised a total of £215 for the gardens.
